Anastasiia Zhuravel is a PhD researcher at the Hertie School’s Centre for Fundamental Rights. Her research focusses on the role of the UN bodies, specifically the Human Rights Committee in dealing with individual applications on human rights violations in the war context in comparison to the approach of the European Court of Human Rights. The case study selected is the current Russian war against Ukraine. Anastasiia holds her Master‘s Degree in European Law (LL.M.) from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and her Bachelor‘s Degree in International Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine). Prior to starting her PhD research, Anastasiia worked for three years in NGOs defending the rights of prisoners and Roma people in Ukraine and Council of Europe Member States.
